A senior chief executive has fully completed the breakfast component of the 2026 National Reconciliation Week Breakfast, departing the Optus Stadium event at 7.42am, eleven minutes before the truth-telling segment began.

Records confirm the executive consumed one fruit plate, two long blacks, half a croissant and the entirety of the Welcome to Country before standing, checking a phone and walking briskly toward a waiting Audi.

“We were All In on the protein” said a senior corporate affairs spokesperson, declining to confirm whether the CEO had stayed for the Stolen Generations panel. “There was a hard stop at 8.”

The departure was logged in the executive’s official reconciliation engagement KPI as a full attendance, given the company’s internal performance framework defines ‘attendance’ as ‘presence at any catered segment of a Reconciliation Week event’.

A spokesperson for the corporate engagement industry confirmed the early-exit model has been formally adopted by 84% of ASX 200 chief executives this year, up from 79% in 2025.

“The breakfasts are landing better than ever” said a senior departmental official familiar with the matter. “Some of our most senior leaders are now arriving even earlier, just to make sure they can leave with maximum efficiency.”

The executive is understood to have been photographed entering the stadium, photographed receiving a lapel pin, and photographed signing the ‘I’m In’ pledge wall – all before the keynote speaker had finished introducing herself.
