A federal department has confirmed it will exceed its 2025-26 Acknowledgement of Country output by more than 40%, in what an internal performance review described as “the standout reconciliation result of the financial year”.

The department lodged its 4,328th Acknowledgement of Country on Tuesday morning during a procurement meeting about meeting room dividers, surpassing last year’s full-year total with five months still on the clock.

“We’ve put real effort into operationalising the protocol across all meeting formats” said a senior departmental spokesperson. “Acknowledgements are now embedded in stand-ups, town halls, supplier briefings and the daily 9.15 catch-up about car park access.”

The output increase has been driven by what the department calls “scalable cultural recognition infrastructure”, including a templated paragraph dropped into the bottom of every staff member’s email signature and an Acknowledgement counter displayed in the executive foyer.

The same department’s progress on its three Closing the Gap responsibilities has been described in the latest internal dashboard as “ongoing”, “in scoping” and “subject to a refreshed engagement plan”.

“We’re going All In this Reconciliation Week” the spokesperson said, gesturing toward a freshly printed banner. “If anything, we’re slightly more than All In. The morning’s Acknowledgement KPI has already cleared.”

Asked whether the department had funded any new remote community service in the last twelve months, the spokesperson said the question had been “noted” and would be acknowledged at the next meeting.
