Bishop-Inspired ‘Cultural Safety Through Redundancies’ Wins Innovation Gong_ANU First Nations Porfolio

In a world first, ANU claims it has perfected cultural safety by removing the most dangerous workplace element: staff.

The First Nations Portfolio’s new “Safety Through Exit” model invites people to feel safe packing up belongings while a mindfulness bell tings from the HR intranet.

Survivors of the restructure will gather in a healing circle with a strict 12-minute agenda.

The talking stick has been replaced by a speaking timer that auto-mutes empathy at the three-minute mark… and a glossy brochure shows two paths: “Thriving” and “Transitioning”.

Community leaders requested stability. Leadership agreed to stabilise the KPI dashboard.

The policy’s final page says “Nothing about us without us” followed by a footnote scheduling “us” for the next financial year.

Innovation judges were impressed by the savings.

Culture, less so… but culture does not sign the cheque.
