Housing Australia says it will open Round 3 of its Housing Australia Future Fund program in late January 2026, with a dedicated First Nations housing stream and $600 million set aside for First Nations housing organisations.
In a media release, Housing Australia said Round 3 will “unlock investment to deliver the remaining 21,350 social and affordable homes” to reach a national target of 40,000 new homes.
Housing Australia said earlier rounds had already committed 279 contracts, supporting 18,650 homes, with 889 completed and 9,501 under construction.
The organisation said Round 3 will include “$600 million in dedicated funding for First Nations housing organisations”, alongside an open, on-demand, two-stage application process.
The Federal Government said the round will include a “dedicated funding stream to improve First Nations housing outcomes”, with $600 million in dedicated funding and access to additional concessional loans for projects delivered by or in genuine partnership with, First Nations housing organisations.
The Federal Government also said a 10 per cent First Nations tenancy target will apply across all social housing delivered under HAFF Round 3.
In briefing material published by Housing Australia, Stream 1 – First Nations lists eligible applicants as “First Nations Housing Providers”, with “$600 million in Availability Payments” and completion “no later than June 2029”.
Housing Australia said it will establish a First Nations concierge service to support First Nations housing organisations through the application process.
Housing Australia chief executive Scott Langford said: “This next round is about accelerating delivery and deepening partnerships.”
