A renewable energy developer has pulled back from court proceedings aimed at clearing the path for a major solar farm, announcing it will now pursue “engagement” and an agreement with Traditional Owners.
Company representatives described the change as “positive progress”, explaining that progress is when you stop doing the thing everyone told you not to do in the first place.
A spokesperson confirmed the project remains committed to delivering clean energy and local benefits, including jobs, investment and a world-class demonstration of how to pronounce “ILUA” with confidence while not fully knowing what it stands for.
“We respect culture and Country,” the spokesperson said, unveiling a new strategy called Partnership Pathway 2.0, featuring three stages: Listen, Learn and Launch Anyway (But With A New Logo).
Local observers said the real issue is straightforward: people want proper consent, transparency and meaningful negotiation. The company agreed, promising a series of consultation sessions designed to gather feedback, validate feedback and then schedule a follow-up meeting to discuss why the feedback is “outside scope”.
To show goodwill, the developer announced a community information night with free sausages, one factsheet and a dedicated “hard questions” table staffed by someone whose job title is Stakeholder Vibes Lead.
The spokesperson also confirmed the company is “moving at the speed of trust”, which is slower than a bulldozer… but still fast enough to meet the next quarterly report.
