Craig Winchester Declares Indigenous People Are Stealing Their Own Culture

Craig Winchester has delivered the hot take of the century: Indigenous Australians are guilty of culturally appropriating themselves.

That’s right, according to Craig – when Aboriginal communities run their own science projects, they’re actually stealing…

Which is the equivalent of accusing Italians of ripping off pizza or the Irish of plagiarising Guinness.

Winchester has somehow inverted the definition of cultural appropriation to the point where it now resembles satire.

He sees Aboriginal art, music and knowledge systems… and instead of celebrating, he yells “theft”.

The absurdity is breathtaking: Craig is essentially suggesting Indigenous people need a permission slip to use what is already theirs.

Because if appropriation works that way, then Craig himself is appropriating logic – badly…

And Indigenous people don’t need Craig’s approval to own their culture.
