About

The portrayal of First Nations in mainstream media frequently fails due to conflicts of interest like the many large corporations and government organisations / bureaucrats that financially fund the news to serve their public relations agendas.

I-News launched by the Community News Hub Aboriginal Corporation aims to share real stories without government and corporate influence and our non-profit mission is to empower First Nations by providing a platform for voices that advocate for social and economic development.

And by sharing stories of development and recovery, we aim to inspire positive change and support initiatives that decolonise and support community development from a First Nations perspective.

A Quick Note on Our ‘Gammon’ Category:

At I-News, we believe that sometimes humour and satire can deliver powerful messages and spark important conversations… thus, our “Gammon” category is dedicated entirely to satirical content, designed to provoke thought, inspire dialogue and highlight the absurdities that often accompany serious issues faced by First Nations communities.

The articles published under “Gammon” are intentionally exaggerated and humorous and should not be taken literally. Our aim is to provide commentary in a way that encourages critical thinking and engagement.

As always, readers are encouraged to explore, laugh and reflect… but also to approach our satire with an understanding of its intent – to entertain while advocating for real change.

*Please note that the articles on this news website primarily express personal opinions; readers are encouraged to conduct further research or seek independent legal or financial advice before making any decisions based on the content.
