A 4BC segment asking “Is Angus Taylor’s leadership already over?” has plunged the country into confusion, with most Australians unable to confirm it had, at any point, begun.

“Over? I didn’t know it was on,” said one commuter, squinting. “Is he the energy one? The car park one? The bloke who left a comment on his own Facebook post going ‘great move, well done Angus’? That him?”

It was, in fact, that him.

Pressed for a single thing the Opposition Leader had led, the public offered: “He led himself to the microphone once,” “He led the Liberals to 18 per cent,” and “He led me to change the channel.”

The confusion was met with characteristic calm out on Country, where governance is measured in slightly longer units.

“See, our way, a leader’s an Elder — someone who held the mob together through drought, flood, the lot and earned it over a lifetime” said Yorta Yorta man Uncle Ronald. “This fella’s whole leadership could fit inside one of Aunty’s yarns and you’d still have room. We had law and order on this continent for 65,000 years. These mob can’t hold a party room together for 65,000 minutes.

At press time, Taylor had congratulated himself on the clarification.
