NITV has reportedly delivered a “fair and balanced” panel on NSW Aboriginal affairs after carefully selecting voices from across the full diversity of people who already agree with the agenda.

The panel was praised as inclusive because it included different seating positions, multiple microphones and at least three facial expressions of concern.

“This is not a stacked panel” said a fictional producer. “We had a chair on the left, a chair on the right and one in the middle. That is balance.”

Viewers said they were inspired by the range of perspectives, which reportedly included “yes”, “absolutely” and “that’s a very important point from our leadership”.

One uncle watching from home said the format reminded him of old community meetings, except those had more disagreement, better tea and at least one person at the back willing to say what everyone was thinking.

The program also introduced a new democratic innovation: allowing grassroots voices to be represented by people who had once driven past grassroots on the way to a strategy retreat.

NITV denied the panel pushed anyone’s agenda, saying it merely created a safe space for one agenda to stretch out comfortably without interruption.
