Australian workplaces have reported a sharp rise in unpaid basketball expertise after San Antonio beat Oklahoma City in Game 7 to reach the NBA Finals, prompting thousands of employees to explain weak-side help defence with the confidence of a royal commissioner.

The outbreak began shortly after the final buzzer, when ordinary Australians who describe policy dashboards as “too much reading” began producing detailed analysis of Wemby, Chet, Shai, spacing, shot diet and why the second unit changed everything.

“People are capable of complex systems thinking” said one data researcher. “They just prefer the complex system to include a seven-footer and a dramatic graphic package.”

First Nations policy workers said they would consider reformatting Closing the Gap targets as a playoff bracket.

“Maybe if health, housing and incarceration were seeded one through eight, someone would ask about the matchup” one analyst said.

The government has reportedly asked whether the next annual report can include a trade machine.

The box score was read. The dashboard was ignored. Democracy lost in seven.
