A senior official has confirmed they are “very close” to announcing a measurable reconciliation outcome the third consecutive National Reconciliation Week the announcement has been imminent.
The official described the announcement as “weeks away” a position they have held since 2024.
“I do not want to pre-empt it” the official said pre-empting it. “But it is going to be significant and it is going to be measurable and it is going to be announced.”
Pressed on a date the official said the timing depended on a final sign-off a costing and a working group all of which were also “very close.”
A departmental colleague said the announcement existed in a stable state. “It is permanently about to happen. It is the most reliable thing we have. You could set a calendar by how close it always is.”
The official confirmed the announcement would be made under the All In banner whenever it arrived.
The announcement was last sighted being very close in May 2024 May 2025 and again this week.
