A national freight company has launched its fourth Reconciliation Action Plan since 2021 marking the occasion with a morning tea and a refreshed colour palette.
Pressed by staff to name one measurable target completed under the first plan a senior spokesperson paused then announced the formation of a fifth working group.
“We are absolutely committed to the journey” the spokesperson said gesturing at a slide deck. “And the journey just got two actions longer.”
The refreshed plan now lists 39 commitments up from 31. Of the original commitments the company confirmed one had been “scoped” two were “in discovery” and the rest had been “rolled into the refresh.”
A departmental official familiar with the sector said the pattern was widespread. “Completing a target ends the conversation. Adding a target keeps everyone in the room and the room has catering.”
The company’s reconciliation page now carries more actions than its three previous plans combined. None list a delivery date.
Asked when community might see an outcome rather than a document the spokesperson said the organisation was “all in” borrowing this year’s National Reconciliation Week theme and confirmed the sixth working group would look into it.
At time of writing the working group was still workshopping a name for the working group.
