Gomeroi rapper and storyteller Kobie Dee has been announced as the live entertainment for the Isuzu UTE A-League 2026 Grand Final, marking his first performance at a major national sporting event.

The Grand Final is scheduled for the weekend of 23 and 24 May, with the venue still to be confirmed. The announcement followed the release of his new single ‘Aim For The Stars’, which has been chosen as the official sync for the Isuzu UTE A-League 2026 Finals Series campaign on Paramount+.

The track threads ambition, resilience, and stepping up for big moments through Kobie Dee’s personal story. Raised on Bidjigal Land in Maroubra, South Sydney, Kobie Dee draws on his journey from freestyling in local parks to building a national music career while staying tied to community.

He said the song was written to encourage young people to believe their dreams were possible. “I want people to hear this song and feel like no dream is too big… Especially young people coming from the same streets I started in. I want them to believe that they can see themselves in these spaces too. For me, Aiming For The Stars means taking Maroubra to the world, not leaving it and just telling stories about it,” Kobie Dee said.

The connection with the A-League Finals Series gives the song a national platform while highlighting Indigenous representation across sport, music, and other industries. Mr Dee said First Nations talent reaches well beyond the football and rugby league fields.

He has become one of Australian hip-hop’s recognised voices, with two gold-certified tracks and ARIA nominations. His work often centres healing, empowerment, and truth-telling, with stories drawn from his life, family, and community.

In 2025, Mr Dee founded Twenny47 Studios, a creative space in Maroubra dedicated to supporting and mentoring emerging First Nations artists. The studio reflects his stated goal of building infrastructure in community rather than leaving it.

The single was released through Bad Apples Music and Island Records Australia, with production from collaborator NERVE alongside contributions from WYES, GENE, and SMAK. Mr Dee said the lyrics came together quickly once the beat was laid down.

For Kobie Dee, the A-League stage is a continuation rather than a departure. He has already performed at festivals including Splendour in the Grass, Listen Out, and Spilt Milk, and has collaborated with major brands. He is also a Kamilaroi man whose paternal great-grandfather was part of the Stolen Generations, and his work has long engaged with the legacy of removal alongside themes of family and pride.

Tickets for the A-League Grand Final go on sale on Monday, 18 May. The official music video for ‘Aim For The Stars’ is set for release later in May.
