SYDNEY – A 20-year-old influencer whose entire brand is based on physical self-improvement walked out of a 60 Minutes Australia interview when the journalist attempted to improve the quality of the conversation by asking substantive questions.
Braden Peters – known as Clavicular – was being interviewed by Adam Hegarty about the looksmaxxing movement which promotes extreme body modification practices including bone smashing steroid use and other methods that medical professionals describe as “please don’t.”
The interview proceeded normally through discussions of looksmaxxing philosophy before Hegarty committed the journalistic sin of asking Peters about the incel community and his relationship with Andrew Tate.
“How could you ask me that question?” Peters said when asked if he identified as an incel. He then described Hegarty’s questioning as “the worst sequence of questions I think I’ve ever heard” – a claim that is difficult to verify without access to every question Peters has ever heard.
Peters attempted to deflect by insulting Hegarty’s appearance suggesting “maybe I could teach you about looksmaxxing.” Hegarty who had not asked for grooming advice from a 20-year-old under investigation for battery continued to sit calmly in his chair.
The walkout lasted approximately 30 seconds. The resulting online discourse has lasted three days. Peters’ publicist described the exit as the influencer “shutting down a dishonest reporter” – a characterisation that requires a very creative definition of “dishonest.”
