BRISBANE — Queensland’s newest theatre has been officially named the Glasshouse Theatre after an “extensive community consultation process” that reportedly began, peaked and concluded entirely inside a ministerial inbox.

Arts and Events officials said the title was chosen to “reflect transparency, openness and the beautiful Queensland light” while confirming the venue will feature state-of-the-art tinted windows to stop anyone seeing what’s going on.

The consultation, described as “robust and deeply participatory” allegedly included a public vote, a listening tour and a ceremonial moment where a staffer nodded solemnly at a spreadsheet before selecting the already-approved option.

A spokesperson for the Minister’s office said the government remained committed to celebrating First Nations culture through “a suite of meaningful acknowledgements” including a rotating slideshow in the foyer titled Did You Know? which will run for 4.7 seconds between ads for interval chardonnay.

“We absolutely value Aboriginal voices” the spokesperson said. “That’s why we kept them safe from the stress of influencing the final decision.”

The department also announced a new “Recognition Pathway” which will allow communities to submit naming suggestions to a dedicated portal that automatically forwards feedback into a secure archive labelled Appreciated.

At time of publication, officials confirmed the first performance season will open with a bold reimagining of Waiting for Consultation, a three-hour silent piece staged entirely in the car park.
