Matt Canavan Becomes Nationals Leader - Local Mob Confused Why Whitefellas Keep Changing Chiefs Every Five Minutes

CANBERRA – Following the election of Matt Canavan as the new leader of the National Party local Indigenous community members have expressed bewilderment at the endless cycle of leadership changes in Australian politics. 🔄

“Bro they change leaders more often than I change me socks” said community elder Keith Morgan from Redfern. “And I change me socks weekly.”

Canavan was elected after David Littleproud resigned saying he was “buggered.” Keith said this is the most relatable thing a politician has ever said. “Finally one of them is telling the truth. We’re all buggered mate.” 😂

The Nationals have now had more leaders than the community bus has had flat tyres this year which is saying something because that bus has been on blocks since January.

Canavan is the first Nationals leader to sit in the Senate and is known for his support of coal and opposition to net zero. Keith said this made sense. “A bloke who doesn’t believe in climate change leading a party called the Nationals. Our country’s been in drought since colonisation and this fella reckons coal is the answer. Classic.”

The Coalition itself has been through more breakups and reunions than Keith’s daughter and her boyfriend. “They split up. They get back together. Someone cries at a press conference. Same story different year.”

When asked if he had any advice for the new leader Keith thought for a moment. “Yeah. Don’t be buggered.”

At press time the Nationals were reportedly already workshopping potential leadership challenges for April.
