MELBOURNE – St Kilda has promoted young players into its leadership group, with First Nations talent stepping into bigger roles as the club sells a fresh chapter of “culture and standards”.

The club said leadership is earned through consistency, accountability, and showing up. Online, leadership is earned by surviving a thousand hot takes from people whose cardio is walking to the fridge during quarter time.

A spokesperson said the club is building an environment where young leaders can thrive. They then clarified thriving will be measured through a new index: Vibes, Buy-In and How Many Times You Say “Humble” In An Interview.

Supporters welcomed the news and praised the players’ growth. Community members also noted the quiet extra pressure First Nations athletes carry – being role models, educators and lightning rods for debate, all while doing pre-season running like everyone else.

To celebrate, the club launched a leadership video featuring slow-motion training shots and one perfectly timed line: “We’re here for something bigger.” Viewers confirmed the bigger thing is the sponsorship overlay.

One invented official quote came from “the club’s leadership program”: “We’re empowering our young leaders, by asking them to lead everything, everywhere, all at once….”
