Queensland Promises Culturally Sensitive Stadium That Gently Floats Above Sacred Ground

The Queensland Government has reassured concerned mob that its planned billion‑dollar Olympic stadium at Victoria Park will be “the most culturally sensitive demolition of Country money can buy”.

“We’ve listened” a government spokesperson said. “That’s why the stadium will technically never touch the ground. It’ll hover three centimetres above the earth on a cushion of reconciliation slogans and recycled Welcome to Country scripts.”

Engineers have reportedly been instructed to design “heritage‑friendly” concrete that “totally respects the spiritual significance of whatever it’s poured on”.

Traditional Owners say the project continues a proud local tradition of “consult first, ignore fast”.

“They asked us what we thought” one Elder said. “We said ‘don’t build it there’. They said ‘deadly, we’ll put that in the consultation summary’ – right under the part where they say they’re definitely building it there.”

The stadium will feature an Indigenous artwork on the outside wall, a plaque acknowledging the destruction beneath, and a Cultural Advisory Panel tasked with suggesting new words for “stadium” that sound more like “healing space”.

“We’re calling it a ‘living cultural precinct’” the spokesperson said. “Because nothing says ‘living culture’ like a giant concrete bowl and surge pricing on hot chips.”

Sources confirm the government is also exploring options to “offset” the loss of trees by projecting hologram gum leaves onto the corporate boxes.
