Métis Leaders Hold Historic Meeting, Decide To Have Another Meeting

After an intense weekend summit, key Métis leaders have released a bold action plan on housing, climate and youth issues, featuring their most ambitious commitment yet: catching up again next month.

The gathering produced a 47‑page communiqué, three new acronyms and one crisp group photo destined for every annual report until the sun burns out.

“We heard loud and clear that our people want affordable homes, climate justice and opportunities for young ones,” said a spokesperson. “So we’ve taken the critical first step: unanimously agreeing that those things would, in fact, be good.”

Attendees broke into working groups titled Housing, Climate, and How Do We Get Funding For Housing And Climate.

“Progress was amazing,” one delegate said. “By Sunday we’d almost figured out a motion to email someone about it.”

Grassroots Métis watching from home were cautiously optimistic.

“If all those resolutions turn into actual houses, deadly,” one mum said. “If not, they can at least build a shelter out of all the meeting minutes.”

The council defended its approach.

“People underestimate the power of a strongly worded recommendation circulated in PDF format,” the spokesperson insisted. “That’s basically climate action.”

To maintain momentum, leaders pledged to form a youth advisory committee.

“We’re hoping young Métis will bring fresh ideas,” they said. “Ideally ones that can be safely parked in a strategic framework until 2043.”
