The City of Fremantle says its FOCUS: First Nation Films event will return later this month, with two nights of film screenings and talks at the Walyalup Fremantle Arts Centre.

The free event will run over two Birak nights Saturday, 24 January and Sunday, 25 January 2026) and is part of the City of Fremantle’s Truth Telling program.

According to the City, the program includes short and feature-length documentaries, guest speakers and a panel discussion, with food available on site. The City also says the event is alcohol-free and that attendees can make a gold coin donation at the gate for charity.

The City’s published schedule lists the Saturday session (4pm–8.30pm) as including an oration by Mr Thomas Mayo and screenings of Babanil (2023, G, 6 minutes) and Wash My Soul in the River’s Flow (2021, PG, 89 minutes).

For Sunday (5pm–8.30pm), the schedule lists screenings of Babakiueria (1986, PG, 30 minutes) and Genocide in the Wildflower State (2024, M, 58 minutes), followed by a panel discussion with YOKAI and Bringing Them Home WA Inc.

The Walyalup Fremantle Arts Centre listing confirms the event location and that it is free to attend.
