“Hunt Staunch” stared into the abyss of Indigenous science and declared: “Is this a joke?”
The punchline, sadly, is Hunt himself.
For thousands of years, Aboriginal people developed fish traps, medicines and astronomical systems – yet Hunt thinks the joke is that this knowledge gets celebrated during National Science Week…
So the real comedy lies in Staunch’s inability to comprehend that science doesn’t need a white lab coat to be valid.
Indigenous science existed long before Hunt’s ancestors had figured out that drinking dirty water causes cholera. If Indigenous science is the joke, then Western society owes much of its survival to punchlines.
The laughter isn’t at Aboriginal people – it’s at Hunt and his white Neo-Nazi friends – who mistook his Facebook comments section for an open mic night and still couldn’t land the joke.
