The eSafety Commissioner has officially launched two culturally tailored online safety guides: Safer Together! and Leaving Deadly Digital Footprints!
Designed in collaboration with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, parents, and carers, these resources blend storytelling, real‑world case studies and interactive activities to foster safe and positive digital behaviours.
Julie Inman Grant, the eSafety Commissioner, said:
“These guides were built by and for First Nations people. They’re about learning together, building trust, and giving children the tools to enjoy the digital world safely and confidently” – Ms Inman Grant said.
The guides explicitly respond to risks unique to First Nations youth—such as racism, discrimination and digital exclusion -while recognising their creativity and innovation online Mirage News. Leaving Deadly Digital Footprints! in particular centres First Nations voices, developed with community members in Gimuy (Cairns) and featuring artwork by First Nations artists like Desirai Saunders and Amy Allerton .
Available alongside previously developed eSafety resources in partnership with First Nations organisations, these guides aim to support carers and families in initiating open yarns about online safety, fun and learning together.
