Major Bank Announces Record-Breaking Commitment to Indigenous Communities Entirely in Press Releases

In a record-breaking gesture of superficial goodwill, financial giant BigBank(s) announced an unprecedented commitment to Indigenous Australians, entirely documented in press releases rather than monetary support.

Initially impressing many with their bold headlines, BigBank detailed ambitious future plans such as “thinking deeply about Indigenous employment”, “promising to strongly consider community grants” and generously offering “free brochures featuring Indigenous-themed stock photos.”

Moreover, BigBank’s CEO Angela Peterson enthusiastically explained how their robust media strategy clearly reflected deep organisational values, despite the curious absence of actual financial contributions.

When pressed by media representatives about tangible actions or funding, Peterson gracefully redirected the conversation to BigBank’s new, culturally respectful debit card designs featuring stylised Indigenous symbols – crafted exclusively by non-Indigenous graphic designers…

Consequently, critics politely questioned whether BigBank intended to make real investments into Indigenous projects or was merely capitalising on NAIDOC Week publicity. Peterson charmingly countered by highlighting their recent internal memo suggesting that real investment would be considered “sometime next year.”

Ultimately, BigBank concluded their heartfelt NAIDOC campaign by enthusiastically applying for several Indigenous-focused government banking tenders, promising “authentic future engagement”—pending approval of the tenders, of course.
