Australia Politely Asks Aboriginal People to be Patient Until Next Symbolic Gesture (NAIDOC Week)

CANBERRA – Today in a heartwarming display of sincere goodwill, national leaders have respectfully asked Indigenous Australians to patiently await the next big symbolic gesture (NAIDOC Week).

“We deeply understand your frustrations” – said a senior bureaucrat “but we’re planning a truly remarkable symbolic event next year that will be even more emotionally moving and even less impactful than anything before.”

Promising “a wave of positive vibes and empty platitudes” the government hinted that this upcoming symbolic gesture will include flags, moving speeches, and a ceremonial acknowledgment of Indigenous issues without committing to any tangible policy changes or measurable outcomes.

“Our symbolic gestures have been improving steadily” another official stated proudly.

“We went from modest nods during public addresses to entire days dedicated to ceremonial acknowledgments… and at this rate, Indigenous Australians can expect truly exceptional tokenism in the coming years.”

Indigenous leaders (asked for comment) reportedly responded with expressions ranging from weary sighs to resigned laughter, maintaining remarkable patience while awaiting the next round of national lip service.
