It’s concerning when anyone weaponises mental health accusations as a means of silencing others or diverting attention away from their own behaviour.
Recently, Wade Natty publicly accused me of needing a mental health assessment, claiming I’m sending him irrelevant or strange messages… but the irony isn’t lost when considering Natty’s own admitted past involvement with ICE, a notoriously destructive drug that ravages communities and families alike.
And while recovery and rehabilitation are commendable and necessary pathways, they also demand humility and accountability.
Publicly pointing fingers about mental health (especially from a platform of self-proclaimed moral authority) is problematic when one’s own past includes aggressive, threatening and intimidating behaviour toward community members, particularly women.
So Natty’s call for my mental health assessment is less about genuine concern and more about deflection and attention seeking (more FB likes please)…
Mental health awareness is crucial but using it to mock, stigmatise or silence voices in the community is damaging and irresponsible.
Let’s reserve discussions around mental health for genuine support, understanding and care – not as a weapon to undermine or intimidate others.
