Apple's Revolutionary Aboriginal Strategy Rename, Don't Reinvest!

Apple, the global tech giant famous for turning small tweaks into groundbreaking “innovations” has proudly unveiled its latest initiative: Indigenous place names on maps – because nothing says “we care” like updating an app.

Instead of using its record-breaking billions in profit to actually invest in Indigenous communities facing severe economic and social inequalities, Apple has chosen the best path: digital symbolism.

CEO Tim Cook explained, “We realised helping Indigenous communities directly would require effort, money and possibly genuine commitment, things we’re not comfortable with…. but renaming a few landmarks on Maps is perfectly within our comfort zone.”

In the spirit of groundbreaking innovations, Apple’s approach includes:

  • Changing place names in Maps: Indigenous communities can finally see their ancestral lands correctly named – on their expensive iPhones that many Indigenous people can’t afford….
  • Virtually symbolic partnerships: Apple commits fully to promoting Indigenous people, provided that commitment requires zero financial outlay.
  • Endless press releases: Each minor change will come with a heartwarming story and lots of smiling photographs of executives “listening” and supporting Indigenous “self-determination”.

Critics called on Apple to invest actual funds to address inequalities but Apple swiftly responded by investing substantial funding to their PR department, launching an exclusive Indigenous wallpaper set instead.

“Apple remains committed to symbolic gestures over practical solutions” said Cook, proudly holding up his iPhone…. “Because why change realities when you can change a map!?”

But in other news, Indigenous communities across Australia and New Zealand eagerly await actual change, scheduled sometime between “later” and “never”.
